* According to the Cotton Corporation of India, seed cotton arrivals from 2007-08 crop by July 26, 2008 had reached the equivalent of 31.375 million bales (170 kgs each), about 13% higher than the arrivals of 27.850 million bales reached at the same stage of last year.

South Korea imported 107,422 tonnes of raw cotton during January-June, 2008 which was 15% less than during the same period last year. The main suppliers were Brazil (55.6%) and the United States (35.1%).

The textile manufacturer’s exports during July-June, 2007-08 amounted to US$ 10,561.256 million, showing a decline of 2.1% from exports value of US$ 10,787.587 million in the corresponding period last season (2006-07).

Imports of textile machinery valued at US$ 438.270 million during July-June, 2007-08 were down by 12.9% from the same period in 2006-07.
